Job Description

A well-established and highly respected automotive organization is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead and oversee its Service Department. ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a strong Service Manager responsible for operating an efficient and profitable Service Department. This position will oversee daily operations, maximize productivity, control costs, build customer loyalty, maintain strong employee relations, achieve sales and profitability objectives, and ensure accurate service records. The Service Manager will also be responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while maximizing departmental gross profit.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish forecast goals and objectives for the Service Department and develop plans to achieve them. Coordinate and administer the annual operating budget for the department. Direct and schedule all activities of Service Department employees. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting service operations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA requirements. Complete required OSHA training and ensure department employees complete required training. Provide technical assistance and support to Service Department employees when needed. Conduct regular meetings with Service Department employees. Monitor technician payroll records and establish competitive compensation plans. Establish and maintain positive customer relationships to encourage repeat and referral business. Develop relationships with vocational and technical schools to support recruiting efforts. Serve as a liaison with manufacturer representatives and complete required meeting documentation. Develop and execute marketing initiatives for the Service Department through available channels. Provide accurate repair and maintenance estimates and clearly explain costs and timelines to customers. Follow up with customers regarding declined or unsold repairs. Stay current with new equipment, tools, technology, and systems and recommend purchases when appropriate. Monitor the location, use, and care of shop tools and equipment. Perform quality checks on completed repairs. Maintain accurate service history records for customer, warranty, and internal work performed. Ensure work areas and customer waiting areas are clean, organized, and comfortable. Monitor departmental performance through comeback reports, warranty reports, forecasts, and other key performance indicators. Assist with collection of accounts receivable related to Service Department work. Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure timely availability of required parts. Maintain and safeguard company assets, including vehicles, equipment, and tools. Follow all company policies, procedures, and personnel guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of automotive repair/service experience . Minimum of 2 years of automotive management experience , preferably in a dealership environment. ASE Certification preferred. Manufacturer certification is a plus. Experience with CDK or similar dealership management systems preferred. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong computer and phone skills, including Microsoft Outlook, CRM systems, and internet applications. Professional demeanor and strong leadership abilities. Strong work ethic with a results-oriented approach. Current, valid driver's license with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
