About Us Coker Rental Company is an equipment rental business based in Powell, Tennessee, serving contractors, businesses, and homeowners across East Tennessee. Our fleet includes boom and scissor lifts, telehandlers, compact track loaders, mini excavators, dozers, compaction equipment, generators, compressors, light towers, and more. We keep our customers working by keeping our equipment ready, safe, and dependable. Position Summary The Service Manager leads the Coker Rental service department. This is a management role focused on planning, organizing, and overseeing the work of our shop and field technicians. The Service Manager keeps the fleet rent-ready, keeps maintenance records accurate in our software, manages parts and vendors, and makes sure the counter and management always know where every unit stands. Key Responsibilities Department Leadership Lead the Coker Rental service department, reporting to the Branch General Manager Plan daily workload and dispatch field and shop technicians, prioritizing down equipment on rent Own the on-call service schedule for on-season and off-season coverage Hire, train, evaluate, and discipline technicians; enforce company attendance policy Fleet Readiness & Maintenance Tracking Keep all fleet maintenance current in our software, including PMs, soft downs, and hard downs, so every unit's status is accurate at all times Own the preventive maintenance program: scheduling, completion, and documentation Drive rent-ready turnaround on returned units and ensure check-in inspections are completed Keep
ANSI/OSHA
annual inspections on aerial equipment current and on file Communicate down units and expected return-to-service dates to the counter and General Manager Technical Oversight Troubleshoot issues with technicians by phone or on site; make repair, send-out, or replace decisions Sign off on completed work and review work orders for accuracy, labor time, and parts used Parts, Vendors & Warranty Maintain filter and parts stocking in the
ERP:
set min/max levels, reorder on time, and keep on-hand counts accurate Order parts for repairs and tie parts usage to work orders File and follow up on warranty claims with manufacturers and dealers Manage outside repair vendors and re-rent equipment repairs; approve vendor invoices Damage & Billing Assess and document damage on returned units with photos and repair estimates Support damage billing and waiver claims with the counter and accounts receivable Ensure service labor and parts are billed correctly Safety & Compliance Run the shop safety program, including lockout/tagout, lifting and jacking practices, and PPE Keep service records audit-ready for OSHA, insurance, and manufacturers Systems & Fleet Input Use our rental management system, service software, and field service app daily and keep data clean Provide input on fleet replacement, disposals, and reconditioning units for used equipment sales Qualifications 5+ years in equipment rental or heavy equipment service, including 2+ years in a supervisory or service manager role Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, diesel and gas engines, and electrical systems, enough to guide technicians and evaluate repairs Strong computer skills: comfortable with rental management/ERP software, digital work orders, email, and Excel; able to learn new systems quickly Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with technicians, counter staff, customers, vendors, and management Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities during peak season Valid driver's license and clean driving record (MVR) How to Apply Send your resume to support@rentcoker.com, call 865-302-3200, or apply in person at Coker Rental Company, 2305 Clinton Hwy, Powell, TN 37849.
