- Position Summary Performs all work related to installing, testing, and repairing electric meters, metering equipment, and related electrical instruments. Qualifications
- Two years of work experience installing and repairing meters
- Lift, carry, pull, and push items that can weigh as much as 100 pounds
- Successful completion of an approved apprenticeship program for a Journeyman Meterman, which includes a minimum of two years installing and repairing meters
- IBEW Journeyman Meterman status required before hire date
- Union membership is required within 30 days after hire date as a condition of continued employment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess and maintain a valid state driver's license Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in computer programs and operate meter testing equipment
- Ability to use mobile technology for reporting and workflow tracking
- Knowledge of all types of electrical meters and electrical recording devices.
- Ability to apply, install, test and calibrate all types of watt-hour meters and instrument transformers.

- Install and remove meters, CT cabinets, meter base and other equipment
- Test meters by ANSI and OTEC standards using computer driven calibration equipment.
- Perform testing of metering installations.
- Assemble, install and maintain metering equipment.
- Edit meter programming software as instructed.
- Thoroughly clean, repair and program OTEC meters as needed.
- Test, service, maintain and calibrate all meters, instruments, transformers and metering equipment.
- Install, maintain, operate, and repair metering equipment such as electronic kWh meters, electronic demand meters, electronic recording meters, potential transformers, and current transformers
- Maintain TWACS meter and substation equipment
- Other duties as assigned and as qualified to perform.
- Participation in cooperative strategy and initiatives This is a full-time position.
This position requires that the employee be available for work outside the normal daily work period. Travel may be required within the OTEC service territory during the business day and infrequently overnight. Occasional out of the area travel is expected to attend various activities such as meetings, training and other events.
