Position Summary The Industrial Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding mechanical equipment throughout the mill. This position supports safe and efficient production by ensuring machinery and equipment operate reliably with minimal downtime. The Millwright performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a wide range of industrial equipment, including conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, gearboxes, pumps, motors, bearings, chains, sprockets, and material handling systems. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMechanical Maintenance Install, align, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and equipment. Diagnose mechanical failures and determine corrective actions. Replace and repair bearings, shafts, couplings, gearboxes, sprockets, chains, belts, and pulleys. Perform precision equipment alignments using laser alignment and other measuring tools. Repair and rebuild pumps, fans, conveyors, hydraulic cylinders, and mechanical drives. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Preventive Maintenance Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. Document maintenance activities in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Identify equipment reliability issues and recommend improvements. Assist in equipment lubrication and condition monitoring programs. Welding and Fabrication Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication as required. Fabricate guards, brackets, chutes, platforms, and other equipment components. Repair structural steel and equipment frames. Troubleshooting and Reliability Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations. Analyze recurring equipment failures and participate in root cause investigations. Assist in developing long-term solutions to improve equipment reliability. Work closely with production personnel to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency. Safety and Compliance Follow all safety policies, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in safety meetings and training programs. Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance or millwright experience preferred. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of industrial machinery, rotating equipment, and power transmission systems. Experience with welding, cutting, and fabrication. Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical manuals. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to use precision measuring instruments. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Completion of a Millwright Apprenticeship Program. Technical degree or vocational training in industrial maintenance. Experience in sawmill, planer mill, utility pole, wood products, paper mill, or manufacturing environments. Experience with laser alignment and vibration analysis. Mobile equipment maintenance experience. Rigging and crane operation experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe work practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and enter confined spaces. Ability to work in varying temperatures, dust, noise, and outdoor conditions. Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and call-outs when necessary. Working Conditions This position operates in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, dust, vibration, noise, and varying weather conditions. Employees are required to follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment. Pay:
$31.50 - $37.25 per hour
