We are looking for an experienced and dependable Tufting Mechanic to join our manufacturing team. Position Summary The Tufting Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, setting up, and repairing tufting equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. This position plays an important role in minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining product quality, and keeping production running smoothly. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tufting machinery, and the ability to identify and correct mechanical and production-related issues. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot tufting machine operational issues and determine whether problems are related to mechanical components, machine setup, or raw materials. Perform machine repairs, adjustments, and routine maintenance as needed. Schedule and perform preventive maintenance and ensure all completed work is properly documented. Set up and adjust tufting machines according to the style and product being manufactured. Ensure machines are properly set up and ready for production before requesting a production crew. Complete check pieces and make necessary adjustments, including needles, tensions, and other machine settings. Monitor equipment performance and respond promptly to mechanical problems to minimize production downtime. Coordinate with Purchasing to help control costs associated with replacement parts, supplies, and maintenance materials. Follow all company safety procedures when servicing or repairing equipment, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements. Document machine setups and settings for each production style. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition. Communicate equipment concerns and maintenance needs with production supervisors and management. Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Basic understanding of the mechanical operation of tufting machinery. Knowledge of common hand tools, power tools, and their proper uses. Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and follow written instructions. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently and as part of a production team. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds multiple times throughout the shift. Ability to safely work at heights of up to 25 feet . Must be able to follow all required workplace and equipment safety procedures. FRS certification preferred or required based on position responsibilities. Previous tufting, textile, carpet, rug manufacturing, or industrial maintenance experience is preferred.
