Lead Maintenance Swing ShiftVaagen Bros. Lumber Inc. is a family-owned wood products manufacturer that has operated in northeastern Washington for over 70 years. The primary role of the Maintenance Lead position on swing shift is to lead and supervise a team, including but not limited to maintenance flow and scheduling, creating a culture of teamwork and cooperation between major processing segments and integration of operating personnel and maintenance staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Manage the maintenance team on swing shift including but not limited to, time clock management, performance reviews, disciplinary action, and trainingPerform various tasks assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor Coaching and mentoring team membersMaintain mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, air & conveying systems Perform all preventative maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and welding repair tasks Stick welding, electrical, and hydraulic repair Heavy equipment and machinery repair Performs mandatory visual inspection of the equipment and facilities before usePromote Safety to the team members and be an example of taking the lead in putting safety 1st. Build sustainable communication bridges between departments for quality, production changes, and inventory plans.
Assist in training and mentoring of new employeesPerforms mandatory visual inspection of the equipment and facilities before useKnow, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures Entry level laborer duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machines Maintain lines of communication with other team membersEnsure tools, supplies, and equipment are in their home locations at all timesMaintain a clean and safe work areaLearning and applying lean business practicesFill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when neededOther duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrate problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills Problem solving, technical troubleshooting, communication, planning, and organization skillsStrong computer skills, including knowledge in Microsoft productsSelf-directed leader, safe leadership record, and can coach, teach, and train othersExcellent in a team environment, with exceptional communication skillsKnowledge of safety legislation, regulatory agencies, principles, and practicesAbility to create quality and cost analysis Outstanding organizational skillsProvide necessary tools for repairEnsure safe work practices & follow safety procedures Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibilityLean techniques and experience preferred Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environmentMust have HS Diploma/GEDMust be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS
Pay:
$37.00-42.00/hrRaises and bonus subject to operational and personal performanceCompany provided laptop, and $46.15/ pay period phone allowance
