Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optical Technician, where your expertise in ophthalmology and optical sciences will directly enhance patient care and improve visual health. In this vital role, you will assist in the preparation and dispensing of eyewear, perform clinical assessments, and ensure compliance with health regulation policies. Your dedication to customer service and precision will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive, fast-paced optical setting. Duties Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing equipment and recording vital signs such as visual acuity, pupil responses, and ocular health status Dispense spectacle lenses and contact lenses accurately, ensuring proper fit and alignment through eyewear fittings and frame adjustment Manage patient medical records using EMR/EHR systems, ensuring clinical confidentiality policies are strictly followed in compliance with HIPAA regulations Provide exceptional customer service by explaining eyewear options, performing eyewear fittings, and assisting with retail sales at the optical counter Conduct basic math calculations for lens prescriptions, pricing, and insurance billing using POS systems and medical coding procedures Maintain knowledge of health regulation policies including state healthcare regulations to ensure clinic compliance during all procedures Experience Prior experience in ophthalmology or retail optometry environments is highly preferred Familiarity with medical terminology related to eye anatomy, physiology, and clinical procedures enhances effectiveness in this role Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical coding practices is essential for maintaining patient privacy and accurate billing Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms is desirable Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about complex optical concepts to diverse patient populations including pediatrics and seniors Basic math skills for handling retail transactions, insurance claims, and prescription calculations are necessary Embark on a rewarding career where your technical skills meet compassionate patient care!
