Position Summary:
Installs and repairs residential and commercial propane and/or oil burner equipment and appliances while ensuring a high level of customer service. The responsibilities of this position are carried out with particular attention to maintaining customer property and working as a trusted advisor. The Service Technician serves as a Dead River Company ambassador by adhering to our Brand Promise.
Essential Functions:
Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair oil and/or propane heating equipment and appliances in accordance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company policies. Perform efficiency tests, tune-ups, and service inspections. Help ensure work is completed safely and correctly the first time to minimize callbacks. Deliver professional, courteous service while treating customers and their property with care. Help customers understand Dead River Company products and services and recommend appropriate options based on their needs. Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and ensure tools and equipment are in safe operating condition. Accurately record parts and labor associated with service calls. Maintain and track parts inventory assigned to the service vehicle. Promptly report accidents, spills, and liability claims. For qualified propane technicians, perform Gas Check inspections according to applicable codes and company policies. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Experience:
Successful completion of oil burner and or propane training course or
CETP/PEP
program desired; training and education provided. Must have at least one year of relevant oil and/or propane service experience. Must have worked under a Master for requisite number of hours.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Technical school training is preferred.
Certification and Licensing:
Must possess a valid Massachusetts Oil Burner Technician Certificate for oil-fired equipment service, installation, and repair. Must be able to pass and possess the applicable Massachusetts Gas Fitter and/or Liquefied Petroleum Installer license required for propane installation, service, and repair. Must meet Massachusetts testing/licensing requirements applicable to the position. NORA Certification is preferred. HAZMAT endorsement is preferred. Knowledge of HVAC, wiring and/or plumbing experience or licensing is preferred. Universal 608 EPA certification for AC/Refrigeration/Heat Pumps is preferred. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must have a valid motor vehicle drivers' license. Driving record is reviewed at employment, and annually thereafter, and must meet company standards. CDL is not required, but it is preferred. What It Takes to
