Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Marine Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing water transportation equipment. In this energetic role, you will troubleshoot, service, and restore marine engines and mechanical systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable vessel operations. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting water-based transportation with precision and dedication. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical skills in a challenging marine environment while contributing to safety and operational excellence. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair marine engines, propulsion systems, and mechanical components using schematics, technical drawings, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, calipers, and precision measuring instruments. Perform routine maintenance on marine electrical systems, including troubleshooting electrical faults and replacing wiring or components as needed. Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and sheet metal to assemble, disassemble, or modify marine parts with high accuracy. Conduct rigging tasks involving lifting heavy components safely using appropriate PPE and rigging techniques. Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently. Maintain ship electrical systems by inspecting wiring, connectors, switches, and circuit boards to ensure optimal performance. Support water transportation operations by performing scheduled inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on marine engines and associated mechanical systems. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic with a focus on marine engines or heavy machinery. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience with marine propulsion systems maintenance and electrical diagnostics. Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and engineering troubleshooting methods. Hands-on experience with maintenance, repair & operations (MRO), including the use of hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, calipers, and other precision instruments. Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately for effective troubleshooting. Knowledge of ship electrical systems maintenance along with electrical experience in vehicle or machinery repair is highly desirable. Experience working with military-grade equipment or in military settings is a plus. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to PPE guidelines; comfortable working in confined spaces or at heights when required. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding repairs or operational status.
