Job Summary Join our dynamic construction team as a Construction Flagger, where your role is vital in ensuring the safety and smooth flow of traffic around roadway and civil infrastructure projects. As a key safety ambassador, you will control traffic in work zones, guide vehicles and pedestrians, and support heavy equipment operators to maintain efficient project progress. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors on impactful road construction projects, utilizing your skills in traffic control and heavy equipment operation to contribute to community infrastructure development. Duties Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic safely around active construction zones using standardized hand signals and flagging equipment. Coordinate with construction crews, heavy equipment operators, and site supervisors to ensure traffic flow aligns with project requirements. Set up and maintain proper signage, cones, barricades, and flagging stations according to safety protocols and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Assist with the operation of heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, front loader trucks, and paving equipment when qualified. Conduct routine inspections of work zones for safety hazards, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols including high-visibility clothing and manual handling procedures. Support roadway maintenance activities including utility locating, welding, and the use of power tools on civil infrastructure projects. Maintain detailed records of daily activities, safety incidents, and equipment usage to ensure compliance with safety standards and project documentation requirements. Qualifications Prior experience in construction sites or road construction projects is highly preferred. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks is advantageous. Familiarity with traffic control for work zones and safety protocols mandated by FMCSA regulations. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks using hand tools or power tools. Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery like Caterpillar equipment is a plus. Strong outdoor work ethic with excellent attention to safety procedures and hazard awareness. Valid driver's license with commercial truck driving experience preferred; knowledge of utility locating is beneficial.
