Job Description

Lineman / Operator / LaborerPosition Summary The Lineman / Operator / Laborer is responsible for the safe operation, inspection, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the electric distribution system, as well as equipment operation and general utility work. This position requires a dependable, safety-conscious individual who can work independently and as part of a team. Essential Duties Inspect the electric grid, poles, lines, and equipment; identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades. Repair, replace, and maintain electric system components, including: Cutout fuses, capacitors, transformers, insulators, and lightning arrestors Poles and crossarms Primary and secondary electric lines Install new electric services and make service repairs or modifications. Inspect and replace poles as needed. Respond to electric outages and emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation. Trim and maintain vegetation around primary electric lines. Operate and maintain excavation and construction equipment. Operate gas-powered tools including chainsaws, backpack blowers, cut-off saws, pumps, and other power and hand tools. Operate a one-ton truck and snow removal equipment. Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, construction, maintenance, and general labor duties. Maintain tools, vehicles, fleet equipment, and work areas. Manage and maintain rubber goods, including gloves, sleeves, and cover-up, and ensure required dielectric testing is completed. Use computers, tablets, and other technology required for work. Complete required training, including Natural Gas training modules. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Experience in electric utility work or as a lineman preferred. Proficient in the safe operation of excavation and construction equipment. Experience operating chainsaws, blowers, cut-off saws, pumps, and other power tools. Ability to safely work around electrical equipment and energized lines. Ability to operate a one-ton truck and snow removal equipment. Basic computer and tablet skills. Ability to successfully complete required Natural Gas training modules. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or required based on department needs. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds . Ability to participate in emergency call-outs, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and comply with a

Working Conditions This is a physically demanding outdoor position involving electrical equipment, heavy machinery, power tools, excavation, climbing, lifting, and exposure to varying weather conditions. The position may require overtime, emergency response, and work outside of normal business hours. Safety is a primary responsibility of this position. All employees are expected to follow established safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and maintain a safe and professional work environment.
Pay:
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour
