Space Coast Trades Guild Inc. is a Florida nonprofit trade academy training adults for entry-level jobs in the building trades. Our 12-week program puts students through approximately 480 hours of hands-on, supervised shop and classroom instruction. Every lesson is aligned to Florida's published training standards, and our graduates go to work for contractors across Brevard County. We are building a founding instructor team to launch the school and will hire multiple instructors. Each instructor is cross-trained and certified to teach two of our eight trades. Our first tracks are chosen from the qualified applicants we hire, so tell us in your application which trades you can teach and show your experience in each.

OPENINGS

• Multiple full-time founding instructor positions
• Each instructor teaches one trade for a 12-week session, then their second trade for the next 12 weeks (24-week assignment per instructor)
• Trades offered: Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry & Framing, Concrete & Masonry, Roofing & Building Envelope, Interior Finishes (Drywall/Trim/Doors), Welding & Metal Fabrication

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Teach classroom and shop lessons from a complete, written curriculum
• Run daily roll call and supervise all shop work
• Enforce safety rules and site PPE requirements at all times
• Grade hands-on skill checkoffs and daily practical work
• Enter daily grades and attendance in the school's records system
• Approve student timecards and closeout photos each day
• Reference applicable Florida Building Code, NEC, and OSHA standards in every unit you teach HOURS 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

The school day closes at 3:30 PM. PAY $31.19 per hour, full-time.

WHAT WE REQUIRE

• At least 4 years of paid journeyman-level work in each trade you want to teach, or equivalent documented experience
• Trade certifications where applicable (examples:

OSHA 30, EPA 608

for

HVAC, NCCER

certification preferred)

• Ability to pass a background check
• Patience and clear communication, because you will be teaching adult career changers, many with no trade background

WHAT WE PROVIDE

• Full uniform service at no cost to you: five button-up shirts and five work pants, laundered and replaced by the uniform supplier
• ASTM F2413-rated protective footwear for shop areas
• Workers' compensation coverage as required by Florida law NOTE These positions are contingent on the school's campus lease and startup financing.
