Job Description

Custom Trim & Cabinet Installer / Finish Carpenter Stimis Enterprises is looking for an experienced Custom Trim & Cabinet Installer to join our growing millwork operation on Maryland's Eastern Shore. This is not production trim work. We build custom architectural millwork and cabinetry in our own shop and install it in high-end homes throughout the Eastern Shore and surrounding areas. Our work includes custom cabinetry, built-ins, wall paneling, coffered ceilings, beams, stair components, architectural trim, doors, and other detailed woodwork. We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their craft and wants to work on projects where the quality of the finished product actually matters. You will not be installing the same baseboard and casing package in 100 houses a year. You will be working with custom-built pieces, complicated details, high-end materials, and projects that require you to think. What You'll Do Install custom cabinetry and built-ins Install high-end interior trim, casing, baseboard, paneling and architectural millwork Install stair components, handrails and other detailed woodwork Install interior doors and hardware Scribe, fit and modify custom millwork in the field Read and understand plans, shop drawings and construction details Measure and solve installation problems in the field Make accurate cuts and adjustments when conditions aren't perfect Protect finished surfaces and maintain clean, professional jobsites Work directly with our shop team to make sure what is built fits what is installed Communicate problems before they become expensive problems Take ownership of your work from layout through final installation What We're Looking For We're looking for a skilled carpenter, not someone who simply knows how to operate a miter saw.
The right person:
Has strong finish carpentry experience Has experience installing custom cabinetry and/or architectural millwork Can read plans and drawings Can work accurately with tight tolerances Knows how to scribe, cope, fit and adjust custom work Can troubleshoot problems without immediately needing someone else to solve them Has a strong understanding of residential construction Takes care of tools, materials and finished homes Shows up consistently and takes pride in doing things correctly Can work independently but understands how to work as part of a small, skilled team Has a valid driver's license Owns quality basic hand tools Experience with high-end custom homes, cabinetry, historic renovations, stair work or architectural millwork is a major plus. What We Offer $30-$38 per hour based on experience and ability This is a full-time position with consistent work and the opportunity to grow with a company that is deliberately building around custom millwork and craftsmanship. You will work with custom work built in our own shop rather than installing whatever comes off a production line. You'll also have the opportunity to learn and expand your skills. We want craftsmen who are constantly getting better at what they do, whether that's installation, cabinetry, trim, stair work, layout or solving difficult details. We believe in doing the work correctly rather than doing it twice. The Type of Person We're Looking For If your idea of a good day is looking at a difficult piece of trim or millwork, figuring out how it needs to go together, and making it fit perfectly, you'll probably like working here. If you need someone standing over you telling you what to do every 15 minutes, this probably isn't the job for you. We are building a team of craftsmen who can be trusted with expensive materials, demanding clients and complicated work. When the details matter, that's where we come in. Apply with your resume and a brief description of your experience. Photos of your work are strongly encouraged.
