Adams Custom Cabinetry & Design is a growing custom cabinet and woodworking shop serving Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and the Central Virginia area. Our primary focus is designing, building, finishing, and installing custom cabinetry and built-ins, along with select finish carpentry and other woodworking projects and products. We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined person to work directly alongside the owner in both the shop and the field. Cabinetmaking experience is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right person . Reliability, attention to detail, mechanical ability, and a genuine interest in learning the trade are more important than years of experience. What You'll Do Build and assemble custom cabinets and built-ins Prepare plywood and other cabinet components Build drawers, face frames, shelving, and other components Install hinges, drawer slides, hardware, and accessories Sand and prepare cabinetry for finishing Assist with cabinet, kitchen, built-in, and finish carpentry installations Build select woodworking products and other shop projects Load, unload, carry, and safely maneuver cabinetry, sheet goods, tools, and materials in the shop and at jobsites. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop Learn to work from cabinet drawings, plans, and cut lists As your skills develop, you'll have the opportunity to take increasing responsibility for cabinet construction, woodworking, and installation. Who We're Looking For You should: Be dependable and show up when expected Take pride in careful, accurate work Be mechanically inclined and comfortable using tools Be able to accurately use a tape measure and basic construction math Be willing to learn and follow established processes Be comfortable working independently once trained Be professional when working in clients' homes and around other trades Be able to safely lift, carry, and maneuver materials, sheet goods, cabinetry, and other heavy or bulky items, sometimes with assistance. Have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license Experience in cabinetry, woodworking, finish carpentry, remodeling, construction, or another hands-on trade is a plus, but not required. Schedule & Compensation Regular schedule of approximately 30-35 hours per week, with additional hours available as workload requires. $22-$28/hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skills. This is intended to be a regular, long-term position, with opportunities for increased responsibility, compensation, and hours as the role and company develop. Work Environment We maintain a professional, smoke- and tobacco-free work environment. Smoking and vaping are not permitted during working time, in the shop, in vehicles, or at customer jobsites. Separate smoking or vaping breaks are not provided. This is hands-on work. Some days will involve building custom cabinetry in the shop; others may involve installations, finish carpentry, woodworking products, sanding, moving materials, or solving problems in the field. Because we're a small shop, you'll have the opportunity to participate in projects from raw materials through final installation rather than performing the same production task every day.
