This position plays a critical role in ensuring food safety, product quality, production efficiency, and compliance with USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMP, and company standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a refrigerated manufacturing environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Set up, operate, adjust, and monitor meat processing and packaging equipment according to production schedules. Ensure machinery is running efficiently to meet daily production goals. Inspect products throughout the production process for quality, weight, appearance, and packaging integrity. Perform routine equipment inspections before, during, and after production. Identify equipment malfunctions and perform basic troubleshooting; notify maintenance when repairs are needed. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance procedures. Accurately complete production logs, downtime reports, and quality documentation. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Assist with equipment changeovers between production runs. Safely handle raw meat products while minimizing product waste. Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA, and company safety procedures. Participate in daily sanitation and cleanup activities. Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Production teams. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. 1-3 years of machine operating experience in a food manufacturing, meat processing, or industrial production environment preferred. Ability to safely operate industrial production equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read production schedules and follow written work instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as production demands require. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in USDA-inspected meat or poultry facilities.
Experience operating:
Vacuum packaging machines Portioning or slicing equipment Grinders Mixers Conveyors Forming equipment Labeling machines Metal detectors Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and food safety regulations. Forklift certification (preferred but not required). Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for 8-12 hour shifts. Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements. Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and stooping. Ability to work in cold environments ranging from 40°F to 44°F . Ability to wear required PPE including hairnets, beard nets, gloves, smocks, safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and cut-resistant gloves when required. Work Environment Refrigerated food manufacturing facility. Exposure to raw meat products, moisture, cleaning chemicals, moving machinery, and production noise. Fast-paced production environment with daily production quotas. Strict adherence to USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMP, and OSHA regulations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong safety awareness. Mechanical troubleshooting ability. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
