USW Local 7-209 About Befesa Befesa Zinc US Inc. operates a leading zinc recycling facility utilizing high-temperature kiln operations and advanced process controls to recover valuable metals from recycled materials. We are seeking motivated, technically-minded individuals interested in building a long-term career within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This position offers the opportunity to learn and operate a complex continuous manufacturing process while working closely with plant operations, maintenance, supervision, and engineering. Position Summary The Process Control Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling an industrial production process through computerized Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems and direct observation of operating conditions. This role requires individuals who are comfortable using computers throughout their workday, analyzing process information, maintaining accurate electronic records, communicating with field personnel, and working collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to optimize production and product quality. Successful candidates will spend a portion of their shift monitoring process conditions from a control room environment and a portion of their shift in the plant observing equipment and process conditions firsthand. Individuals with experience operating industrial processes, monitoring production systems, analyzing trends, and making operational decisions are strongly encouraged to apply. Essential Responsibilities Monitor kiln and process operations through computerized control systems and HMI displays. Observe and analyze process trends, operating conditions, and production data. Make process adjustments to maintain operational stability, product quality, environmental compliance, and production targets. Communicate regularly with Utility Operators, Foremen, Maintenance Personnel, Management, and Engineering. Complete electronic shift reports, operating logs, and production documentation. Enter and maintain accurate operational data using Microsoft Excel and other electronic reporting systems. Share and communicate operational information using Microsoft Teams and Outlook. Conduct routine field inspections of kiln operations and related equipment. Verify process conditions through direct observation in the plant. Assist in identifying abnormal operating conditions and participate in troubleshooting efforts. Work closely with the Process Engineer to understand process performance and implement operational improvements. Follow all safety, environmental, quality, and operational procedures. Desired Qualifications Required High School Diploma or GED. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to learn complex industrial operating procedures. Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Preferred Experience in industrial manufacturing, production operations, or process operations. Experience monitoring production systems or operating from a control room environment. Experience in steel, foundry, cement, lime, mining, aggregate, power generation, recycling, chemical processing, refining, or similar industrial operations. Experience with HMI, DCS, SCADA, or other computerized monitoring systems. Real world experience or education in operations, engineering, power generation, mechanical, industrial, or technical fields. Computer Skills Candidates should be comfortable using computers as a routine part of their daily work responsibilities.

Learn and operate industrial HMI software platforms.
