Feed Mill Production Operator MPS Egg Farms' Feed Mill facility located in North Manchester, Indiana is hiring for a Feed Mill Operator position for first shift. Position Summary:
Feed Mill Production Operator The Production Operator at our feed mill is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment used in the production of layer hen feed. This role ensures the efficient and safe production of high-quality feed products, adhering to all company and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate Machinery:
Safely operate various types of machinery used in the production process, including mixers, grinders, and roller mills.
Monitor Production:
Continuously monitor the production process to ensure quality and efficiency. Adjust as necessary to maintain optimal performance.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet specified standards.
Maintenance:
Perform basic routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operation.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of production data, including quantities produced, machine settings, and any issues encountered during production.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other team members to ensure production goals are met and to support a collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training in machinery operation or a related field is a plus.
Experience:
Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in the feed industry.
Skills:
Basic mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills. Ability to operate and maintain complex machinery. Attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good communication and teamwork skills. Basic computer skills, including the ability to operate spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel for record-keeping and reporting. Competencies Accuracy in documentation and inventory control Communication and teamwork with drivers, production, and management Problem-solving and proactive reporting Reliability and time management Able to follow spoken and written instructions in English Reliable and dependable work ethic Ability to recognize critical areas of the mill control feed/ingredient system Some previous general Feed Mill operations and Feed Mill procedures experience preferred Able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends, holidays, and extended hours Work Environment & Physical Demands The work environment characteristics & physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is based in a fast-paced agricultural setting and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear Must be able to tolerate extreme ranges of seasonal temperatures (hot to cold) Must be able to tolerate grain dust, chemical odors, heights, and frequently noisy conditions Will work in wet and/or humid conditions, and around fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and cold Biosecurity/Animal Welfare The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires the strict daily adherence to established biosecurity processes and procedures before entering the facility.
