Job Description

Boston Children's Hospital seeks a Tech II, Sterile Processing to support our pediatric surgical and clinical teams. This role is responsible for decontaminating, assembling, and sterilizing instruments and equipment, operating washers and autoclaves, and ensuring accurate documentation and load release testing. The Tech II maintains inventory, collaborates closely with the OR, and upholds strict infection control and safety standards. Working in a mission-driven, teaching environment, you'll support world-class pediatric care while growing your sterile processing expertise. Responsibilities Decontaminate, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments and trays according to standards Operate and monitor sterilizers, washers, and related equipment Perform and document biological and chemical indicator tests for load release Maintain accurate records, labels, and tracking in instrument management systems Manage inventory, storage, and rotation of sterile supplies and instruments Collaborate with OR and clinical teams to meet case needs and turnaround times Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times Report equipment issues and participate in quality improvement activities Required Skills Sterile processing Medical instrument decontamination Instrument assembly and packaging Autoclave operation Biological and chemical indicator testing Infection control procedures Inventory management Use of tracking systems Reading surgical preference cards Regulatory compliance (Joint Commission/AAMI)
