Position Summary The Assistant Hydrocarbon Processing Technician supports the daily execution of solvent extraction, post-processing operations, equipment maintenance, and lab sanitation within a C1D1 environment. This entry-to-mid-level role is heavily focused on operational readiness, lab hygiene, machine support, and work-zone efficiency. Reporting directly to the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician, this role requires strict adherence to C1D1 safety protocols, high sanitation standards, and hands-on operational assistance.

Efficiently assists the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician with equipment preparation, extraction setups, solvent recovery, and post-processing tasks.
Reliability & Communication:
Punctual, proactive, and maintains direct, active communication with the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician throughout the shift. Daily Responsibilities C1D1 Safety & HAZMAT Handling Safely handle hazardous chemicals and materials, including flammable hydrocarbon gases and ethanol. Continuously monitor C1D1 safety indicators, LEL levels, ventilation equipment, and pressure lines during operational workflows. Strictly adhere to all mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards, with primary emphasis on Flame-Resistant (FR) clothing and safety glasses, alongside respirators and cryogenic/thermal gloves. Execute safe cylinder movement, solvent transfer protocols, and emergency shut-off awareness under the direct supervision of the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician. Sanitation & Equipment Maintenance Continuously wash, sterilize, and bake out laboratory glassware, collection pots, recovery vessels, extraction spools, and stainless steel fittings. Execute daily, weekly, and monthly deep-clean protocols for C1D1 processing rooms, including scrubbing floors, wiping down C1D1 walls, tables, hoods, and vacuum ovens. Conduct routine preventative maintenance support, including gasket replacements, O-ring inspections, filter changes, and line flushes. Maintain an audit-ready, spotless laboratory environment before, during, and after every run. Extraction & Post-Processing Assistance Assist the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician with machine prep, biomass column loading/unloading, and solvent recovery assistance. Perform post-processing duties, including vacuum oven purging, solvent recovery, and bulk concentrate handling. Assist in prepping, cleaning, and staging collection vessels, parchment, Pyrex trays, and vacuum ovens for incoming extracts. Support bulk product staging and transfer under the direct supervision of the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to work inside a C1D1 hazardous environment and wear required PPE (including half/full-face respirators, FR clothing, and safety glasses) for extended periods. Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 lbs (biomass material bags, solvent tanks, heavy stainless components). Physical stamina to perform repetitive manual labor, including bending, stooping, scrubbing, standing, and lifting throughout an entire shift. Team Interaction & Reporting Report directly to the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician for all daily directives, task prioritizations, and process feedback. Maintain direct, transparent, and prompt communication with the Hydrocarbon Processing Technician regarding equipment status, wear-and-tear, or safety observations. Arrive punctually for all scheduled shifts with a positive, team-first attitude toward lab execution and facility upkeep.

From $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
