Job Description
A Sheet Metal Coil Line Operator sets up, runs, and monitors automated machinery that feeds, straightens, notches, shears, and forms raw metal coils into finished sheet metal or HVAC ductwork components.
Responsibilities Machine Setup & Operation:
Load metal coils onto uncoilers using forklifts or overhead cranes, ensure proper alignment, and configure line parameters (such as gauge, width, and bend specs).Material Processing:
Guide steel or aluminum coils through straighteners, levelers, beadrs, notchers, shears, and rollformers to produce precise panel lengths or snap-lock/Pittsburgh seams.Quality Control:
Perform first-piece inspections, verify dimensions with calipers and measuring tools, and monitor output for surface finish, squareness, and consistency.Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Adjust tooling, maintain slack loops, clear jams, perform routine machine lubrication, and conduct basic preventive maintenancePay:
