Role:

Axycut Precision Machining is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Precision Operator to run CNC Lathes (DMG Mori / Fanuc-style controls) and/or CNC Mills (Haas / Fanuc-style controls) producing tight-tolerance components for aerospace and commercial precision applications. This is not an entry-level trainee role . Key Responsibilities:

Set up, operate, and tend CNC turning centers and vertical milling machines. Load raw materials (aluminum, stainless steels, alloy steels) and cycle parts to production standards. Monitor tool wear, adjust geometry and wear offsets, and perform routine insert and tool changes. Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using micrometers (OD/ID, blade, depth), dial bore gages, calipers, and height gages. Accurately interpret blueprints, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) callouts. Maintain complete and accurate traveler documentation and quality inspection logs. Deburr parts and maintain clean, organized workstations and fluid levels per shop standards. Minimum Requirements Minimum 2 years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a precision metal job shop or production manufacturing environment (aerospace or defense background preferred). Demonstrated experience operating CNC turning centers (DMG Mori, Fanuc-based) and/or Haas vertical machining centers. Proven proficiency reading technical drawings and applying standard GD&T symbols. Demonstrated competency with precision hand measurement tools (0.0001'' reading micrometers, bore gages, calipers). Practical understanding of tool wear, cutting parameters, and basic G-code navigation. Reliable, punctual, and able to stand for extended periods in an active machine shop environment. Preferred Qualifications Proven ability to perform complete independent machine setups (setting work coordinate systems, tool touch-offs, and verifying first-article parts). Experience machining tough alloys (300/400-series stainless, nickel alloys, Hastelloy, hardened steels). Experience with shop travelers/ floor tracking.
