Job details Summary Spherion $25.00 - $36.00 per hour Permanent 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM Industry manufacturing & production (Production Occupations) Reference number S_179850 Job details Spherion is seeking an experienced 5-Axis Laser CNC Setup Operator for a 2nd shift opportunity in Manchester, CT. The ideal candidate will have CNC laser experience, the ability to set up and operate 5-axis laser equipment, and experience working from engineering drawings and job specifications. Responsibilities:
Set up and operate 5-axis CNC laser cutting equipment. Review work orders, engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications. Load and position materials accurately according to job requirements. Set machine parameters, tooling, fixtures, and work offsets as required. Perform first-piece inspections and in-process inspections. Make machine adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy. Monitor machine operation and identify issues that may affect production or quality. Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment. Verify finished parts meet dimensional and customer specifications. Make minor program or parameter adjustments when qualified. Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation. Troubleshoot basic machine, tooling, and process issues. Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Communicate production, quality, and equipment concerns to supervisors or appropriate team members.

AM Skills:
Previous 5-axis laser CNC experience. Aerospace manufacturing experience. Experience with precision sheet metal or complex component manufacturing. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience with CNC laser programming or program editing. Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, or other aerospace materials. Familiarity with CNC inspection equipment and quality systems. Experience working to tight dimensional tolerances. Knowledge of AS9100 or other aerospace quality standards. Experience with setup sheets, tooling documentation, and production travelers.
Education:
High School Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous CNC machine setup and operation experience. Experience operating CNC laser equipment. Ability to perform machine setups and make necessary adjustments. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Knowledge of machining processes, tolerances, and measurements. Experience using precision measuring instruments. Basic understanding of CNC controls and machine offsets. Ability to perform quality checks and accurately document results. Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
