The Machine Operator follows the quality production processes and works together as a team constructing specialized tooling for foundries, aerospace, and various other industries. This includes, but not limited to; permanent molds, wood/foam/metal patterns, composite and metal laminating mandrels, and fixtures. Machine Operator s primary area of focus is setting up and operating CNC machines and equipment. On any given day, the operator may prepare raw materials, prepare a test run, setup and remove finished product and inspect product. To be Successful in this role, operators must have the following traits:
A keen eye for detail
Mechanical aptitude
The ability to perform mathematical calculations
Basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM software
Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
Team Player
RESPONSIBILITIES
Setup and operate CNC mills and routers
Setup tooling
Supervise machines as they run and make adjustments as needed
Prepare various stock materials, such as wood, metal, plastic and foam for machining
Read drawings, compute dimension and land sequences of operations
Inspect finished parts to drawing specifications using templates and measuring instruments
Machine maintenance and cleanouts
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Work with CNC Programmer to produce quality parts on time. Shop duties
General pattern shop work; material storage and tooling preparation.
