Job Title:

CNC Operator Job Description The CNC Operator works as part of a collaborative production team to run custom milling files for flexible dies according to precise customer specifications. In this role, you prepare each die, enter detailed order specifications into the CNC system, and run program files that mill all lines so materials can be cut effectively, efficiently, and with a high degree of accuracy. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC equipment to mill flexible dies in accordance with customer specifications and production requirements. Prepare each die for machining, including verifying measurements, materials, and program files prior to running the job. Input order specifications and program data into the computer system accurately to ensure correct milling patterns and cutting lines. Monitor CNC operations during production to maintain quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the machining process. Use basic math skills, including simple addition and subtraction, to verify dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements. Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to determine machining requirements and setup parameters. Utilize measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to inspect parts and confirm that finished dies meet required specifications. Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards, following established housekeeping and safety procedures. Wear required personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety policies and guidelines while operating machinery. Demonstrate dependability and self-motivation by consistently meeting production schedules and quality standards. Maintain a strong sense of accountability for the quality of work produced and the proper use and care of equipment. Work with a sense of urgency and attention to detail to meet deadlines and production goals without compromising quality. Navigate and use computers confidently for machine programming, data entry, and production documentation. Propose improvements to production processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. Adapt to changes in the work environment, including new procedures, equipment, or production priorities. Manage competing demands by effectively prioritizing tasks and coordinating work to meet multiple production requirements. Learn to operate additional machines as secondary responsibilities to support overall production needs and provide backup coverage. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot issues, resolve production challenges, and maintain smooth operations. Essential Skills At least 2 years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or machining environment. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how machines and tooling function in a production setting. Familiarity with CNC machines and basic CNC operations. Comfort working with computers, including entering data and navigating machine interfaces. Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift in a production environment. Dependable, self-motivated work style with a strong sense of accountability. Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction for measurements and production calculations. Capability to manage competing demands and work with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with machining and machine operation in a machine shop environment. Background in CNC machine operation, including setup and basic programming. Ability to read and interpret blueprints for machining requirements. Experience operating mills and lathes or similar machining equipment. Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers. Comfortable navigating computer systems and machine control interfaces. Willingness to learn and operate additional machines as needed to support production. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work. Why Work Here? Production runs across three shifts:

1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Lunch and 10-minute breaks are paid, providing regular rest periods during the workday. Team members spend most of their time standing and walking on the production floor while operating CNC and related machinery. Appropriate safety equipment and attire are required, and the environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
