Farmington Hills, Michigan Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Hourly Rate:
$38.00 - $40.00/hr.
Overtime:
Available but not mandatory
Shop Hours:
7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Our client, an established and well-known manufacturer, is seeking an experienced CNC Mill and Lathe Setup Programmer to join their skilled manufacturing team. This position requires someone who can independently program, set up, and operate CNC equipment while troubleshooting machining and process-related problems. The position is direct or contract-to-direct and provides a competitive hourly rate and benefits. All CNC equipment is manufactured by Okuma , so previous experience with Okuma machines and controls is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Read Programs, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications Selecting and adjusting tooling, speeds, feeds, work holding, and machining sequences Perform machine setups, including tooling changes, offsets, and fixture alignment Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and process problems Make program and process adjustments to maintain quality and productivity Inspect completed parts using standard precision measuring equipment Verify that finished parts meet dimensional and quality requirements Identify opportunities to improve cycle times, tooling performance, and manufacturing processes Perform basic machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area Work cooperatively with a close-knit team of approximately 3-4 employees Qualifications Previous CNC mill and lathe programming and setup experience required Strong knowledge of CNC machining practices and manufacturing processes Experience with Okuma machines and controls strongly preferred Ability to independently complete machine setups and troubleshoot process problems Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing quality work Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team Hours This is a first-shift position working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The shop remains open until 5:30 p.m. , and overtime is available for employees who would like additional hours.
