Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Mazak Integrex CNC Setup Operator to join our machining team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating Mazak Integrex multi-tasking CNC machines using Mazatrol controls to produce high-quality, precision-machined components in a short-run, custom manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include preparing tooling and workholding, establishing tool and work offsets, making minor program adjustments, troubleshooting machining issues, and verifying part quality. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and capable of completing setups and machining operations with minimal supervision while adapting to changing job requirements. Key Responsibilities Machine Setup and Operation Set up and operate Mazak Integrex multitasking CNC machines using Mazatrol controls. Perform job changeovers, including installing tooling, preparing workholding, and establishing tool and work offsets. Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, holders, and machining methods based on part requirements and material specifications. Load, verify, and run existing CNC programs, making minor Mazatrol program edits and adjustments as needed. Verify setup accuracy before beginning production and adjust tool offsets, feeds, speeds, and other machining parameters as appropriate. Transition efficiently between short-run jobs, custom components, and changing production priorities. Quality Control and Inspection Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, setup sheets, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements. Perform first-piece inspections following setups and job changeovers to verify dimensions against print specifications. Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators. Monitor dimensional accuracy, tolerances, and surface finish throughout production. Identify nonconforming parts, communicate quality concerns promptly, and make appropriate adjustments to minimize scrap and rework. Complete required inspection documentation and production records accurately. Troubleshooting and Machine Maintenance Troubleshoot machining issues involving tool wear, chatter, dimensional variation, workholding, and surface finish. Recognize equipment issues and communicate maintenance needs promptly. Perform routine operator maintenance, machine cleaning, and tool changes. Apply sound machining practices to improve setup efficiency, tooling life, part quality, and cycle times. Collaborate with programming, engineering, quality, and production personnel to resolve machining challenges and improve processes. Safety and Housekeeping Follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment. Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly care for tooling, fixtures, and measuring equipment. Use appropriate material-handling equipment and safe lifting procedures when handling workpieces, fixtures, and tooling. Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and quality issues to the appropriate supervisor. Qualifications and Requirements 2+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in a setup and operation role. Hands-on experience operating Mazak Integrex machines or similar multi-axis CNC equipment; direct Mazak Integrex experience is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of Mazatrol controls and the ability to make minor program edits and adjustments. Demonstrated ability to perform CNC machine setups with minimal supervision. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and machining specifications. Working knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, tool offsets, and machining processes. Experience using precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions. Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple jobs and adapt to frequent setups and changing production requirements. Dependable attendance, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work overtime when required by production needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Mazatrol programming and editing existing CNC programs. Experience with multi-tasking mill-turn machining, live tooling, and multi-axis operations. Experience machining complex, close-tolerance, short-run, or custom components. Knowledge of GD&T and the ability to identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency, tooling life, and setup processes. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to stand, walk, and work around CNC machinery for extended periods. Ability to handle workpieces, tooling, and fixtures safely using appropriate lifting equipment and established procedures. Ability to use precision measuring instruments and perform detailed visual inspections. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with CNC machinery, metalworking equipment, cutting fluids, and typical machine shop noise. Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment and follow established shop safety practices.
