Job Duties:

Operate Burn Tables:

Set up and run multi-torch CNC oxy-fuel and plasma cutting systems.

Load Heavy Materials:

Use overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts to position massive steel plates.

Run CNC Programs:

Input and adjust G-code programs for heavy structural steel parts.

Read Blueprints:

Interpret industrial engineering drawings, weld symbols, and layout specs.

Calibrate Gas Lines:

Regulate high-pressure oxygen and fuel gas mixtures for thick plate cutting.

Inspect Parts:

Measure cut pieces with calipers and tape measures to verify strict structural tolerances.

Clean Finished Steel:

Use hand grinders and chipping hammers to remove slag, dross, and burrs.

Manage Shop Scrap:

Use manual torches to cut up plate steel skeletons for disposal.

Perform Maintenance:

Change out worn torch tips and clear out cutting table debris.

Follow Safety Protocols:

Maintain strict safety standards for high-heat work and heavy lifting.

Qualifications CNC Programming:

Ability to read, edit, and input G-code or M-code at the machine controller.

Physical & Operational Qualifications Heavy Material Handling:

Proficiency operating overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts to load massive steel plates onto the cutting bed.

Precision Measurement:

Skilled use of calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and squares to verify part dimensions against blueprints.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand for 8-10 hours, lift up to 50 lbs, climb on and off the table repeatedly, and work in high-heat environments.

Oxy-Fuel Physics:

Knowledge of proper gas-to-oxygen ratios, pre-heat times, and cutting speeds based on metal thickness.

Torch Diagnostics:

Ability to select, clean, and change torch tips, check check-valves, and regulate gas pressures.

Material Selection:

Expertise in handling thick carbon steels and low-alloy steels (typically 1 inch to over 6 inches thick).

Blueprint Literacy:

Advanced ability to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols and industrial welding schematics.

Must pass a criminal history check.
