32-Hour Standard Workweek | 40 Hours of Pay | Most Fridays Off City Machine & Welding, Inc., an established Amarillo manufacturing and repair company with more than a century of experience, is seeking an experienced Cutting and Forming Technician to join our team. We offer a unique compressed work schedule designed to provide employees with greater work-life balance while maintaining full-time weekly compensation. Standard Work Schedule Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. One-hour unpaid lunch 32 hours actually worked 40 hours of pay Under the standard schedule, employees work four 8-hour days, totaling 32 actual work hours, but receive compensation equivalent to 40 hours at their regular hourly rate . Friday Rotation Employees may be required to work approximately every third Friday , depending on production and business needs. When an employee works a full Friday shift:

8 additional hours worked Total actual hours worked: 40 hours Total compensation: 48 hours of pay Employees do not lose the additional eight hours of compensation provided through the compressed-workweek benefit when they are required to work Friday. Overtime eligibility begins when an employee actually works more than 40 hours during the applicable workweek , in accordance with applicable wage-and-hour laws and company policy. Potential future night-shift opportunities may become available based on company needs. Position Summary City Machine & Welding, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Operator who can set up and operate a variety of CNC and manual metal-fabrication equipment in a manufacturing and repair environment.
Primary equipment may include:
CNC Press Brake CNC Plasma Table CNC Tubing Plasma CNC 4-Axis Tubing Bender Shear Equipment Other CNC and manual fabrication equipment as assigned The ideal candidate can read and interpret prints, set up equipment, produce parts to specification, verify dimensions and quality, and perform required finishing work with limited supervision. A trainee may be considered for the right candidate who demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to learn technical equipment and manufacturing processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate assigned CNC and manual fabrication equipment . Operate CNC press brake equipment to form metal parts according to prints, drawings, and specifications. Operate CNC plasma cutting equipment. Operate CNC tubing plasma equipment. Operate CNC 4-axis tubing bending equipment. Operate shear equipment and other fabrication machinery as assigned. Read and interpret prints, drawings, dimensions, and production specifications . Select and install appropriate tooling when required. Adjust machine settings and operating parameters based on the assigned job. Load, position, and remove materials safely and accurately. Measure and verify parts during and after the production process. Confirm completed components meet required dimensions and specifications. Perform finishing work including grinding, deburring, and smoothing processed parts and cut edges . Inspect completed parts for quality, workmanship, and accuracy. Identify dimensional or production discrepancies and make appropriate adjustments within the scope of the position. Maintain equipment, tooling, and work areas in clean and orderly condition. Follow established safety procedures when operating fabrication machinery. Maintain production efficiency while meeting company quality standards. Assist other departments when needed to support production requirements. Perform general housekeeping of the assigned work area. Perform other related manufacturing and fabrication duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Experienced candidates should demonstrate: Previous experience operating CNC, metal-fabrication, or similar industrial equipment. Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and dimensions. Ability to accurately use measuring tools. Ability to set up and operate assigned equipment with limited supervision. Strong mechanical aptitude. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to inspect completed work and identify dimensional or quality discrepancies. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Consistent and dependable attendance. Strong work ethic and personal accountability. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team. Ability to work safely in an active manufacturing and repair environment. Trainee Candidates A trainee may be considered for the right candidate.
Trainee candidates should demonstrate:
Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability and willingness to learn CNC and fabrication equipment. Ability to understand measurements and basic shop math. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Commitment to workplace safety. Willingness to learn multiple types of fabrication equipment. Ability to accept instruction, coaching, and performance feedback. Ability to work effectively in a hands-on industrial environment. Previous manufacturing, machining, fabrication, welding, construction, mechanical, or industrial experience is preferred but may not be required for a qualified trainee candidate. Preferred Experience Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: CNC press brake operation CNC plasma cutting CNC tube or pipe plasma cutting CNC tubing bending Metal shearing Sheet-metal fabrication Structural or miscellaneous metal fabrication CNC machine setup Blueprint and print reading Precision measurement Grinding and deburring Metal-forming operations Manufacturing or repair operations Candidates are not required to have previous experience on every machine listed . Physical Requirements This position may require employees to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, reach, and position materials during machine setup and operation. Use hands and arms to handle materials, tooling, controls, and measuring equipment. Safely handle fabricated metal components and raw materials. Perform repetitive production and finishing tasks. Work around moving machinery and industrial equipment. Work safely around sharp edges, sparks, hot materials, and metal-processing operations. Wear required personal protective equipment.
