$19.00 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience Position Overview SPIG Industry is seeking a motivated and dependable Plasma Operator to join our growing manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating plasma cutting equipment to produce steel components used in our manufacturing operations. The Plasma Operator plays an important role in maintaining production flow, material accuracy, and product quality. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of reading drawings and following established production specifications in a fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate plasma cutting equipment to cut steel components according to production requirements, drawings, and specifications Load appropriate programs and verify machine settings prior to beginning production Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, measurements, and production specifications Properly position and load steel plate and other materials onto the plasma cutting table Monitor plasma cutting operations to ensure proper machine performance and quality of finished components Inspect cut parts for accuracy, dimensions, cut quality, and conformity with production requirements Identify and report equipment, programming, material, or quality issues that could affect production Perform routine troubleshooting and make basic machine adjustments as needed to maintain production Remove completed parts and scrap material from the cutting table and prepare components for the next stage of production Properly identify, organize, and stage cut components for welding, fabrication, assembly, or other manufacturing processes Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed Use hand tools, measuring devices, and other equipment necessary to support plasma cutting and fabrication operations Perform routine cleaning and basic operator-level maintenance of plasma cutting equipment and work areas Maintain an organized inventory of material being processed and minimize unnecessary material waste Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow all company safety policies, procedures, production requirements, and quality-control standards Collaborate with welding, fabrication, quality control, and other production personnel to maintain an efficient manufacturing workflow Assist with other manufacturing and production operations as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Manufacturing, fabrication, CNC, or industrial experience preferred Previous plasma cutting or CNC plasma equipment experience preferred Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, measurements, and production specifications Basic understanding of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes preferred Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts and industrial equipment Ability to use measuring tools to verify dimensions and part accuracy Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment or production issues Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality components Ability to organize parts and materials and maintain an efficient production workflow Strong work ethic, dependability, and reliable attendance Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a production team Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required in a manufacturing environment Willingness to cross-train and assist in other production areas as needed Schedule Monday through Friday Day shift 8-hour shifts Full-time, consistent hours Overtime as needed based on production requirements Compensation and Benefits Competitive hourly pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience Direct deposit Paid time off On-the-job training and skill development Stable, full-time employment with opportunities for growth and advancement Work Location Requirements In-person role located in Bristol, VA 24202 Must be able to reliably commute or relocate prior to start date
