Full Job Description Job Summary:

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to cut, shape, or finish steel components in accordance to detailed shop drawings and job specifications. This position plays a critical role in producing precision parts used in the steel fabrication process while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Detailed Descriptions of Functions:

• Follow safety protocols and ensure all machinery and equipment are operated in a safe and clean condition.
• Set up and operate CNC machinery (e.g., laser, plasma, punch press, milling, or lathe) for steel part fabrication.
• Interpret and work from shop drawings and NC1 files.
• Load steel materials onto CNC equipment using cranes, hoists, or forklifts.
• Monitor machine operation and adjust programs or settings as needed to meet tolerances and specifications.
• Perform quality inspections on parts using measuring tools such as tape measures, gauges, and tools provided to meet specifications.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and notify Supervisor of major issues or concerns.
• Deburr or finish parts as required before moving to the next production stage.
• Maintain detailed production logs, timekeeping, and quality control records.
• Work closely with the parts team to ensure parts are processed efficiently and correctly.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or trade school preferred.
• 1-3 years of CNC machine operation experience in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CNC programs.
• Familiarity with G-code and M-code programming (basic editing or adjustments).
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Equipment & Safety:

• Never use any machinery or equipment unless you are properly trained and have authorization from you Supervisor.
• Always perform a pre-operation inspection to check for loose parts, leaks, or wear.
• Report defects immediately.
• Always wear the required

PPE:

safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, and hearing protection.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly; team-lift heavier materials as needed
• Standing for long periods (8-12 hours per shift)
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and crouching
• Manual dexterity and steady hands for machine operation and part handling
• Visual acuity to read technical drawings, machine displays, and measurement devices
• Tolerance to loud, dusty, hot, cold, or industrial environments

Pay:

$22.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
