Precision CNC Boring Mill Setup & Operator

Job Description

Role purpose Operate and set up large CNC boring mills to transform blueprints and process sheets into precision components that hit production schedules and stringent quality targets. Core responsibilities Set up and operate assigned CNC boring bar machines for production runs. Load tapes/files and perform CNC program edits to meet blueprint specs. Read and follow process sheets, drawings, schematics, and mini process documents. Use rules, levels, miters, and squares to check angles and geometry. Preset CNC tooling; perform tool grinding on small twist drills. Operate internal shapers as required. Operate small hand/power tools, precision measurement devices, grinders, cranes/hoists, and powered hand trucks. Earn and maintain company certifications for overhead cranes, jib hoists, and powered industrial forklifts. Conduct daily inspections; complete basic rigging with chains and slings for jib/overhead cranes and battery magnets. Operate pedestal-mounted jib cranes safely and efficiently. Inspect and mark materials; ensure parts and materials remain clearly identified. Complete and control all required paperwork; ensure documentation travels with parts. Execute random quality checks aligned with ISO standards. Maintain housekeeping and 5S within the department. Safety expectations Work safely at all times and wear all required PPE. Follow established job-specific and facility-wide safety procedures and rules. Complete required safety training within regulatory timeframes. Participate actively in safety and health training and demonstrate competency. Report or correct unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and share safety suggestions. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. Successful completion of a written and hands-on evaluation prior to employment.
Math proficiency:
addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions; read standard/metric rulers and tape measures. Two years of experience setting up, laying out, and operating large CNC boring bars (large horizontal preferred) or equivalent machining technical training. Ability to read blueprints and use hand, power, and precision measuring tools. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. up to 100 feet. Work schedule & environment Normal shop environment. Monday-Thursday 4/10 shift. Must be willing and able to work any shift and overtime.
