Mastercam Company Description:
Celtic Manufacturing is seeking an experienced 3-Axis CNC Programmer / Setup Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Orlando, Florida. We manufacture precision components and assemblies for the ride and show, aerospace, and oil and gas industries. Our work includes custom components, complex machined parts, and small production runs that require careful planning, accurate setups, and attention to detail. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of a job from drawing review through programming, machine setup, and first-piece approval. The ideal candidate will have strong Mastercam skills, practical machining knowledge, and the ability to develop reliable setups for a variety of part configurations and materials. Responsibilities Create, verify, and edit Mastercam programs for 3-axis CNC milling machines using engineering drawings and 3D models. Review drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and material requirements to determine the machining sequence and setup approach. Independently perform machine setups, including installing workholding, loading tools, establishing offsets, and verifying clearances. Design fixtures and select workholding methods that provide adequate support, accessibility, and repeatability while minimizing part movement and distortion. Select cutting tools, toolholders, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies appropriate for the material and required finish. Safely prove out programs and troubleshoot issues involving toolpaths, chatter, tool wear, workholding, and dimensional accuracy. Inspect first-piece parts and coordinate with quality personnel to verify conformance before releasing the job to production. Prepare accurate setup sheets, tooling lists, and operator instructions. Improve machining methods to reduce cycle times, extend tool life, and minimize scrap while maintaining quality. Support operators during production and communicate setup requirements, critical dimensions, and inspection checkpoints. Maintain an organized work area and follow company safety and equipment-care procedures. Required Qualifications A minimum of five years of hands-on programming experience using Mastercam. Proven experience independently programming and setting up 3-axis CNC milling machines. Hands-on experience with fixture design, workholding selection, and cutting-tool selection. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, surface finish requirements, and machining notes. Experience machining parts with tight tolerances and multiple setups. Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and bore gauges. Ability to identify and resolve programming, setup, tooling, and machining problems. Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, including tool engagement, chip control, part rigidity, and tool deflection. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with production, engineering, and quality personnel. Dependability, attention to detail, and accountability for workmanship and schedule commitments Preferred Qualifications Experience programming and setting up Haas and Okuma CNC machines. Experience in a job shop producing custom components and small production runs. Experience machining aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, and other challenging materials. Experience manufacturing components for ride and show, aerospace, or oil and gas applications. Experience developing fixtures for irregularly shaped parts or parts requiring multiple machining operations Hands On Interview Requirement Candidates must be able to program a part in Mastercam during the interview. This practical evaluation will assess the candidate's ability to review a drawing or model, develop a machining plan, select tooling, and create appropriate toolpaths. Candidates should also be prepared to explain their fixture or workholding approach, setup sequence, cutting parameters, and method for verifying critical dimensions. Compensation and Benefits $30-$40 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated programming and setup ability. Benefits include 401(k), medical insurance, life insurance, and paid time off. How to Apply Submit your resume outlining your Mastercam programming experience, CNC setup background, machines and controls used, and experience with fixture design and tool selection.
