CNC Programmer Direct Hire Pay:
$29-35/hourly Depending on experience and qualifications
Job Summary:
The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing programs to control the machining or processing of metal or plastic parts using CNC machine tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the appropriate cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into desired shapes. Revise programs or tapes to correct errors and retest programs to ensure issues are resolved. Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates. Determine reference points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and calculate angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures. Observe machines during trial runs or conduct computer simulations to verify that programs and machinery function correctly and produce items that meet specifications. Modify existing programs to improve efficiency. Write instruction sheets and cutter lists for machine controllers to guide setup and encode numerical control tapes. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Design, plan, and implement workholding fixtures. Verify current program revisions against customer requirements. Ensure machining meets established standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required, with Experience in CNC in a manufacturing environment preferred). Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Basic understanding of algebra, geometry, and their applications. Familiarity with machine tools, including design, usage, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for optimizing manufacturing and distribution. Familiarity with aerospace industry standards in machining. Ability to create solid models of aerospace parts from 2D prints. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Experience with Microsoft Office tools. Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.

Work Environment:
Inside work in a tool vault and tooling center.
Equipment/Tools Used:
Hoists, forklifts, hand tools, mills, drills, and surface grinders.
Physical Requirements:
Light work (lifting up to 10 lbs) occasionally—components and tools. Medium work (lifting 11-30 lbs) occasionally—components and tools. Heavy work (lifting 31-50 lbs) occasionally—components and tools. Ability to work on your feet for up to 12 hours a day.
Mental Requirements:
Reading, writing, calculating, interpersonal skills, reasoning/analysis, ability to work with minimal supervision, and math skills.
