Industrial Painter/Loader

Job Description

At Sons Marine and Industrial, we handle the heavy lifting. From marine fabrications to massive industrial infrastructure, our team is known for precision, grit, and delivering top-tier structural steel work. We pride ourselves on a hardworking shop culture, providing our crew with the right tools, steady hours, and a safe environment to build a long-term career. We're looking for a dependable, hardworking Painter / Loader to manage the final, critical steps of our production line: finishing the steel and getting it safely out the door. What You'll Do (Responsibilities): Prep structural steel surfaces for coating by cleaning, degreasing, sanding, and blasting as required. Operate industrial spray equipment (airless or conventional systems) to apply primers, epoxy coatings, and polyurethane finishes to heavy iron structures according to specifications. Rig, lift, and load finished steel components onto flatbeds and trailers using overhead cranes, hoists, and heavy-duty forklifts. Participate in our mandatory team stretching program at the start of every shift to keep the crew safe, flexible, and injury-free. Secure loads safely for transit, ensuring proper block-and-tackle, strapping, and weight distribution. Conduct quality inspections on paint thickness (DFT gauges) and coverage to ensure zero defects before shipping. What We're Looking For (Qualifications):
Testing Requirement:
Must be able to successfully pass a practical spray painting, material handling, and rigging test prior to formal hire.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with industrial spray painting and/or heavy material loading in a structural steel shop, shipyard, or similar industrial environment.
Equipment Skills:
Proficient with airless paint sprayers, mil gauges, and heavy equipment operation (large forklifts and overhead cranes).
Safety & PPE:
Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the proper use of respirators, spray gear, and rigging equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Commitment to daily shift stretching; ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in a paint booth environment, and safely navigate a heavy industrial shop and loading yard.
Pay:
$22.00 per hour
Work Location:
