Painter Warren, Ohio Company Overview:

Ajax Tocco Magnethermic (ATM), a subsidiary of ParkOhio , traces its roots back to the 1800s and has a rich history of excellence in induction heating and melting solutions. The present company was formed in 1959 when the Magnethermic Corporation acquired the assets of Ajax Electrothermic Corp. combining their expertise and capabilities.

Position Summary:

The Industrial Painter is responsible for the surface preparation, finishing, and painting of industrial equipment and components to meet company quality standards and customer expectations. This role includes body work, surface prep, paint mixing, application, and final finishing, ensuring all products are completed safely, efficiently, and with a high level of workmanship.

Job Duties:

Surface Preparation & Body Work Perform surface prep including: Sanding, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces Removing rust, oil, and contaminants Complete body work repairs using fillers (bondo) and sanding techniques Mask and tape components to protect critical areas prior to painting Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications Apply coatings using: Spray guns (HVLP or conventional) Brushes and rollers as required Ensure proper coverage, thickness, and finish quality Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats per job requirements Set up and maintain painting equipment and spray booths Monitor air pressure, temperature, and humidity when required Clean and maintain spray guns and tools after use Inspect finished surfaces for: Runs, sags, orange peel, or defects Proper color match and finish consistency Perform touch-ups and rework as needed Ensure all work meets company and customer quality standards Move parts safely using forklifts or overhead cranes (if certified) Coordinate with production and assembly teams to meet schedules Verify parts are properly prepped and ready prior to painting Maintain a clean, organized paint area aligned with 5S standards Properly store paints, chemicals, and materials Follow all safety procedures including PPE usage and ventilation requirements Dispose of waste materials in compliance with environmental regulations What you need to be successful: High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years of industrial or automotive painting experience Knowledge of paint systems, coatings, and surface preparation techniques Ability to safely operate spray equipment and tools Strong attention to detail and quality

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience painting industrial equipment or large assemblies Knowledge of epoxy, urethane, and specialty coatings Familiarity with mix ratios, cure times, and environmental conditions Forklift and/or overhead crane experience
