Full-Time About the Opportunity Our client is seeking a technically driven Drive Specialist / Controls Specialist to join their team. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with experience in electrical systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, industrial automation, VFDs, or low-voltage controls. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working directly with customers and contractors, and finding solutions to improve equipment and system performance. Candidates with backgrounds in HVAC controls, electrical contracting, automation integration, BAS, industrial controls, instrumentation, or electrical service are encouraged to apply. Licensed electricians and experienced controls technicians are especially encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Commission, troubleshoot, and optimize Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems used with HVAC and mechanical equipment. Troubleshoot, commission, and service Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems. Interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and sequences of operation. Diagnose and repair low-voltage control circuits, sensors, actuators, relays, control panels, and communication networks. Support the integration of HVAC equipment with building automation platforms. Perform point-to-point checkout, control verification, startup, commissioning, and system performance testing. Assist customers with controls programming modifications and operational improvements. Work closely with mechanical contractors, electricians, controls vendors, facility engineers, and customers during equipment startups and troubleshooting. Identify system issues and provide effective technical solutions. Follow electrical safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and arc-flash safety practices. Travel to customer sites as needed throughout the assigned territory. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or HVAC controls. Background in commercial HVAC controls, industrial controls, automation, instrumentation, or electrical service. Experience with VFDs, motors, pumps, and mechanical systems. Experience with low-voltage wiring, control panels, PLCs, or DDC controls. Familiarity with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks. Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control sequences. Experience with controls commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or system integration. Understanding of energy management systems and building optimization strategies. Licensed Journeyman Electrician or equivalent electrical field experience is preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. Commitment to electrical safety and established safety procedures.
