We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for installing, programming, inspecting, troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, controls, and related information systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Install, program, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and adjust electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, control systems, and related information systems. Perform testing, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation equipment. Interpret equipment readings, system outputs, alarms, and operating data to identify issues and ensure equipment is functioning properly. Diagnose electrical and controls-related problems and take appropriate corrective action to minimize equipment downtime. Review equipment manuals, electrical documentation, technical specifications, and established operating guidelines. Ensure equipment and information systems are operated and maintained in accordance with established procedures, safety requirements, and manufacturer recommendations. Perform basic programming and troubleshooting of utility and industrial control systems. Program, troubleshoot, and work with ladder logic and relay logic . Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), and associated inputs/outputs (I/O) . Configure, operate, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) . Support industrial communications and telecommunications networking associated with control systems and equipment. Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot issues related to SCADA systems . Assist with control-system modifications, upgrades, commissioning, and equipment improvements as required. Initiate and maintain work orders related to equipment, controls, and information systems. Ensure maintenance records, work orders, equipment documentation, and other required records are accurate and complete. Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, production, and operations personnel to resolve equipment issues and improve equipment reliability. Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe, organized work environment. Perform other job-related duties as assigned based on production requirements and business needs. Qualifications Experience working with industrial electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, automation, or related equipment. Working knowledge of PLCs, ladder logic, relay logic, VFDs, RTUs, and industrial control systems . Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and controls-related issues. Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment documentation. Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial communications/networking. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with maintenance, engineering, production, and operations teams. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Ability to work safely in an industrial/manufacturing environment and follow established safety procedures. Preferred Qualifications Technical degree, diploma, or certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field. Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, utility, or heavy-electrical equipment environment. Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLC-based automation systems. Experience with industrial equipment commissioning, preventive maintenance, and controls upgrades. Knowledge of industrial electrical safety practices and applicable standards.
