Job Description

CONTROLS, ROBOTICS & AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN
Don't just maintain machines. Make them work smarter. Are you the person who gets called when the robots stop, the PLC throws a fault, and nobody can figure out why the line isn't running? If robotics, PLCs, automation, electrical controls, and troubleshooting are your thing, we want you on our team. We're looking for a talented Controls, Robotics & Automation Technician to help keep our advanced automotive manufacturing operation running at peak performance. This isn't your typical maintenance job. You'll be hands-on with industrial robots, PLCs, servo systems, weld controls, HMIs, and automated production equipment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll be the technical problem-solver who keeps our automated equipment running.
Your responsibilities will include:
Troubleshoot and support ABB and FANUC robots Program and troubleshoot PLCs Program and troubleshoot AC/DC and servo drives Modify PLC programs and HMI/machine interfaces Troubleshoot MIG and resistance spot-welding systems Diagnose electrical and electronic control systems Repair and maintain automated manufacturing equipment Design and modify electrical/electronic circuits Adjust welding schedules and equipment parameters Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime Identify root causes-not just symptoms Support automation improvements and continuous improvement projects Work with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Quality, and other teams Bottom line: When automation isn't working, you figure out why-and get it moving again.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
Electro-Mechanical Technician diploma or equivalent post-secondary education 3-5 years of relevant industrial experience Working knowledge of ABB and/or FANUC robotics Strong controls and troubleshooting skills Electrical/electronic troubleshooting experience PLC and drive programming experience Ability to work independently and solve complex problems Strong communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office
BIG PLUS IF YOU HAVE
Automotive manufacturing experience Robotic welding experience Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC experience FANUC or ABB programming/teach experience HMI programming experience Servo/motion-control experience Industrial networking experience Experience with automated production lines
