Field Service Controls Technician (Travel)

- Job Title: Controls Technician
- Job Description
- The Controls Technician installs, commissions, and maintains conveyor equipment and systems at customer sites across the United States.
This role combines mechanical and electrical installation, PLC troubleshooting, and field service work to ensure conveyor systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications. The position requires extensive travel, hands-on work in industrial environments, and close collaboration with engineering, sales, and customer service teams to deliver high-quality, turnkey conveyance solutions.
- Travel Information
- + Flights, hotels, and rental cars will be provided + Employees will receive $60/day (7 days) per diem + Employees will be traveling 90% of the time and going from client site to client site, 30-60 days at a time + Employees will receive $25/hr during travel hours
- Hours/Schedule Information
- + Employees will work 6-7 days a week, but 7 days will be expected more often than not + Employees will work up to 12 hours a day for a minimum of 18 days per automation line + Primarily Day Shift hours
- Responsibilities
- + Install and commission conveyor equipment and systems, including mechanical and electrical components. + Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards + Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the installation and maintenance of conveyor systems + Communicate project status, risks, and issues to the project manager and internal teams
- Collaborate with other departments such as engineering, sales, and customer service to ensure project success + Maintain accurate project documentation and reports. + Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. + (Other duties may be assigned)
- Essential Skills
- + 3+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical installation, preferably in the conveyor industry
- + Knowledge of conveyor system design, installation, and maintenance
- + Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills + Ability to work independently and in a team environment + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills + Willingness to travel to client sites frequently.
- + Physical ability to work in a field installation environment, including the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment. + Experience with basic hand and power tools
- Additional Skills & Qualifications
- + High School or GED equivalent, technical degree preferred + Ability to read and interpret documents such as proposals, blueprints, specifications, and procedure manuals + Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
+ Fluent in reading and writing English
+ Understanding of Spanish is a plus, but not required
+ Ability to use multi hand and power tools associated with conveyor installation.
+ While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms and pick up items of at least 50 lbs.
+ Ability to climb ladders, operate a forklift and scissor lift and practice proper safety per OSHA standards.

- Work Environment
- This role is field-based and involves working primarily at large distribution and fulfillment facilities, including major e-commerce sites, where you will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and active material handling systems.

- This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
- Pay and Benefits
- The pay range for this position is $30.00
- $35.
00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
