Salary:
$17-$22, non-exempt position. Specific starting wages are dependent on location and experience. Level 1
Hiring Specifics:
Seasonal, Part-time and Full-time positions available. What you'll do A Ski/Snowboard Tech keeps our customers' gear ready for the mountain and understands what makes Sports Basement's shop awesome and unique. You edge and wax skis and snowboards, mount bindings, and handle light repair work with care and precision. You follow the shop workboard to keep jobs moving and communicate clearly with your Lead and Manager on status and priorities. You work safely at all times and are comfortable and confident with the tools of the trade. You take pride in a clean, organized shop and in handing back gear that's ready to perform. Depending on the needs of the store, other duties may be assigned from time to time. Customer Service Provide outstanding (WOW) customer service. Proactively improve your skills and product knowledge through SB/vendor training, product use, and participation in those activities. Customers find you approachable and are comfortable coming to you with questions, concerns, or issues. Be an expert in home zone/department and proficient in one other department to provide excellent on-the-spot customer service. Learn to implement SB's Security Policy. Operations and Repair Work Edge and wax skis and snowboards to manufacturer and shop specifications. Mount bindings on skis and snowboards accurately and safely. Perform light repair work on skis, snowboards, and related equipment. Use shop tools and equipment properly and keep them in good working order. Inspect gear for damage or wear and flag issues to the Lead or Manager. Follow the shop workboard to prioritize and complete daily work orders. Communicate with the Lead and Manager on job status and any delays. Work safely at all times, following shop safety procedures and using proper protective equipment. Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Report unsafe conditions or equipment issues immediately. Staff Experience & Development Create an inviting ambiance by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment for customers and staff. Maintain open communication within your zone/department and with staff and customers. Efficiently prioritize and execute daily tasks/goals, projects to achieve organizational goals in a timely manner independently or as a team. Business Experience Stay up-to-date with all company information and quickly implement department initiatives. Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally. Is a self-starter and understand how to prioritize daily workload. Understands the charm of Sports Basement, and create a positive and fun vibe that elevates the customer and staff experience. Stay up to date with shop equipment, tools, and manufacturer specifications. Qualifications Previous ski/snowboard shop, tech, or related industry experience (preferred, but not required). Knowledge of ski and snowboard equipment, edges, wax, and bindings. Good with tools and mechanically inclined. Ability to follow the shop workboard and complete work orders accurately and on time. Strong verbal and written communication with customers and staff. Attention to detail. Basic computer skills. Flexibility and adaptability, as the workload and workboard may change day to day. Must be able to lift 40 pounds, bend down repeatedly, and stand for the majority of an 8 hour shift. Commitment to working safely and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Time management and problem-solving skills. Available to work during operating hours which include most weekdays, weekends, and holidays (except Thanksgiving and Christmas).
