Job Description

Position Description The Mechanical Assembler- Weekend is responsible for assembling and installing mechanical components used in custom electrical equipment. This role works from drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and work instructions to ensure equipment is assembled safely, accurately, and to SPS quality standards.
Hours:
6:00am-6:00pm, Friday- Sunday (work 36 hours, get paid for 40) Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assemble and install mechanical components according to drawings and work instructions. Verify parts and components against BOMs for accuracy. Measure, layout, drill, fasten, and install components using hand and power tools. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and other visual aids. Identify and report material, design, or quality issues. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Support continuous improvement and other production needs assigned. Knowledge, Skills Abilities Required Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to safely use hand and power tools. Basic math and measurement skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality. Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. Ability to work occasional overtime as needed. Preferred Previous manufacturing, assembly, or mechanical experience. Experience reading drawings, blueprints, or work instructions. Experience using measuring tools and performing mechanical layouts. Previous forklift or scissor lift experience. Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to walk and reach with hands. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee occasionally uses computer keyboards. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee views computer monitor occasionally.
