Position Summary The Finisher prepares and topcoats cabinetry, doors, panels, and millwork to meet approved samples and job specifications. This role maintains consistent color and finish quality, handles materials properly, and keeps finishing equipment and work areas safe and clean. Key Responsibilities
- Review work orders, plans, finish schedules, approved samples, and product instructions before starting each job.
- Inspect parts for damage or defects; sand, fill, clean, mask, and stage surfaces for finishing.
- Mix and apply stains, paints, sealers, and clear coats using approved equipment and methods; verify color, sheen, coverage, and cure requirements.
- Operate, clean, and maintain spray guns, pumps, booths, and related tools.
- Inspect finished parts for runs, dust, orange peel, color variation, and other defects; make approved corrections.
- Label, protect, and move completed parts to the next production stage without damaging finished surfaces.
- Record processes, any rework, and quality issues as required by shop procedures.
- Follow safety procedures for ventilation, personal protective equipment, flammable materials, chemical handling, and waste disposal, and all procedures outlined in the respiratory program; keep the work area organized.
- Wear the assigned respirator whenever required for finishing work. Use the specified cartridges or filters, and inspect, clean, and store respiratory equipment as instructed.
- Pass a fit test for the assigned tight-fitting respirator before first use and at least annually.
- Read container labels and safety data sheets. Qualifications
- Experience in cabinet, furniture, or architectural millwork finishing preferred; relevant spray finishing experience may be considered.
- Ability to read finish specifications, match approved samples, and identify surface and coating defects. Knowledge of reading plans is preferred.
- Familiarity with sanding, masking, spray application, equipment care, and safe use of finishing chemicals.
- Attention to detail, dependable attendance, and ability to work with a production team.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions as per training and safety procedures.
- Must perform a practical assessment prior to hiring.

Exposure to dust, noise, and finishing products occurs under established controls. Respirator use is required for spray finishing tasks.
