Job Description

JB Customs is looking for an experienced Cabinet Finisher to join our team. We specialize in high-quality custom cabinetry and built-ins, and we are looking for someone who understands what it takes to produce a professional, consistent finish. This is not an entry-level painting position . We are looking for someone with hands-on experience finishing cabinetry, furniture, millwork, or similar high-end wood products.
Responsibilities include:
Properly preparing cabinetry, doors, drawer fronts, trim, and other wood components for finishing Spraying lacquer-based coatings, including primers, sealers, and topcoats Understanding proper lacquer application, viscosity, spray technique, flash times, and coating build Producing smooth, consistent finishes with minimal defects Sanding between coats and preparing surfaces to a high standard Mixing and applying stains Toning stained wood to achieve even, consistent color Color matching and correcting inconsistencies in natural wood Identifying and correcting finish issues such as runs, orange peel, dry spray, contamination, fisheyes, and uneven sheen Maintaining spray guns, pumps, hoses, pressure pots, and other finishing equipment Keeping the spray booth and finishing area extremely clean and organized Properly cleaning equipment at the end of each use Following appropriate safety procedures when working with lacquer, solvents, stains, and other finishing products Inspecting finished pieces before they leave the finishing department What we're looking for: Previous professional cabinet, furniture, or millwork finishing experience Strong experience spraying lacquer coatings Experience staining and toning wood Good understanding of wood species and how different woods accept stain and finish Ability to troubleshoot finishing problems Strong attention to detail Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently Someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work Experience with custom cabinetry and high-end residential millwork is strongly preferred.
