Farm & Equipment Kroes Northwest is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Service Technician to join our team.
This is a hands-on position primarily working on dairy farms throughout the area, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing wastewater handling equipment. The position will also assist with maintenance and repairs on construction and company equipment in our shop as needed. We are looking for someone who enjoys figuring out how things work, isn't afraid to get dirty, and takes pride in fixing equipment correctly. What You'll Do Dairy & Wastewater Equipment Service, troubleshoot, and repair dairy wastewater handling systems Work on pumps, motors, separators, piping, valves, gearboxes, and related equipment Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical problems Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections Install and replace pumps, motors, piping, and other system components Respond to service calls when equipment goes down Work directly with dairy owners, managers, and employees to identify and solve equipment problems Shop & Construction Equipment Assist with maintenance and repairs on construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and other company equipment Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filters, lubrication, and inspections Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues Help keep company equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the field What We're Looking For The right person doesn't necessarily need previous dairy experience. We are willing to train someone who has strong mechanical ability and the right attitude.
Ideal qualifications include:
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Experience working on farm equipment, construction equipment, trucks, industrial equipment, pumps, or similar machinery Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welders, and diagnostic equipment Comfortable working outdoors and in agricultural environments Able to work independently and make good decisions in the field Dependable and willing to take responsibility for getting the job done Good communication skills and professional attitude when working with customers Valid driver's license with a good driving record Welding, fabrication, electrical, pump, plumbing, heavy-equipment, or agricultural experience is a plus. What the Job Is Like This is not a desk job. Some days you'll be troubleshooting a manure pump at a dairy, other days you'll be replacing a motor or repairing piping, and occasionally you'll be back at the shop working on an excavator, skid steer, truck, or trailer. The work can be dirty and physically demanding, but it's also varied and rewarding. You'll have the opportunity to learn specialized equipment and become someone our customers depend on to keep their operations running.
