Our organization has vast expertise in the following public health areas: chronic disease prevention and management, nutrition and food access, minority health and health equity and maternal and child health. We are engaged with local communities and work with them to create relevant and sustainable solutions focused on addressing the social determinants of health. We service the entire state with special focus in the Midlands and Pee Dee areas.
Position Summary:
The Agriculture Technical Assistant & Outreach Provider will help small and mid-sized farmers identify challenges, access appropriate technical and financial resources, improve farm operations, strengthen business practices, and pursue new market opportunities. The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly with farmers in the field, communicating with agricultural partners, organizing educational activities, documenting technical assistance, and translating complex agricultural information into practical, actionable guidance.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide one-on-one technical assistance to small and mid-sized farmers based on identified farm needs. Conduct farm visits, assessments, and follow-up consultations. Assist producers with crop and livestock production planning, farm management, recordkeeping, resource efficiency, and operational problem-solving within the employee's area of expertise. Help farmers identify appropriate agricultural practices, technologies, equipment, and production resources. Connect farmers with qualified specialists when issues require expertise beyond the position's scope. Support farmers in developing practical action plans and tracking progress. Coordinate, develop, and participate in agricultural meetings, workshops, training sessions, field days, webinars, peer-learning activities, community events, and outreach activities. Develop or assist in developing practical educational materials, fact sheets, resource guides, and presentations. Assist with activities that improve farm readiness for institutional, wholesale, direct-to-consumer, and other markets. Coordinate with Cultiv8's business-development staff and partners to provide farmers with integrated technical and business assistance. Build productive relationships with Clemon & SC State Extension, USDA agencies, conservation organizations, agricultural associations, commodity groups, financial institutions, universities, nonprofits, buyers, and other agricultural partners. Participate in collaborative initiatives that expand resources available to South Carolina farmers. Help identify potential funding, training, technical assistance, and market-development opportunities for Cultiv8 and its farmer participants. Conduct outreach and engagement activities to identify the needs, challenges, and opportunities of farmers, agricultural producers, and community stakeholders. Build and maintain effective working relationships with farmers, agricultural organizations, extension professionals, government agencies, nonprofits, educational institutions, and other community partners. Support agricultural program implementation through requirements gathering, data collection, process documentation, resource coordination, reporting, and ongoing program support. Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, technical assistance provided, stakeholder interactions, program participation, and other relevant program data.
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
