Position Summary El Matador Foods is seeking a skilled and reliable Food Production Maintenance Technician to support the continuous operation of our tortilla and snack production facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment to ensure minimal downtime and safe, efficient operations. This position plays a critical role in supporting production flow, food safety standards, and overall plant performance. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on all production equipment including mixers, sheeters, ovens, fryers, conveyors, and packaging machines Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions Maintain and repair motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, and pneumatic systems Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting (switches, sensors, panels) Support installation and setup of new equipment Ensure all work is completed in compliance with food safety (GMP), OSHA, and company standards Maintain clean and organized work areas, especially in washdown environments Document maintenance work, repairs, and parts usage Communicate effectively with production and management teams regarding equipment status Respond to emergency breakdowns as needed Qualifications 2+ years of maintenance experience in food production or manufacturing environment preferred Experience with conveyors, industrial ovens, fryers, or packaging equipment strongly preferred Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in hot, humid, and refrigerated conditions as needed Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts as required Preferred Skills (Highly Valued) Multi-craft experience (electrical + mechanical) Experience with PLCs or automation systems Welding and fabrication experience Food manufacturing experience (tortilla, bakery, snack, or similar) Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay Overtime opportunities available Stable, growing company with advancement opportunities
