Job Requirements Custom metal fabrication shop looking for an experienced Powder Coat Operator I . 40+ hours per week to start. Powder Coat Operators are responsible for understanding and adhering to LEM's Quality Management System and customer expectations to properly examine, tape, mask, hang, wash, and apply powder coating to the work surface; ensuring that product outputs meet customer requirements before product is released. Requiring a strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship, this position is responsible for a variety of maintenance and production tasks that promote a safe, efficient production environment delivering high-quality products and reports to the Coatings Manager.

•Pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical, and PFT/FIT testing are required for all Powder Coat Operator new hires

Experience:

At least 1 year previous powder coating experience required

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required Ability to learn and comply with necessary safety techniques and terminology Ability to learn and comply with basic manufacturing processes, concepts, and procedures Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to read, interpret, evaluate, and respond to procedures, specifications, drawings, and requirements Understand basic mathematical principles and have knowledge of measurement processes such as length, diameter, and counts Read and operate a tape measure and caliper Strong attention to detail Solid work ethic and pride in workmanship Effective verbal, written, and communication skills Ability to learn and apply surface preparation skills including but not limited to examining, taping, masking, hanging, and washing products to prepare and apply the appropriate coating(s) using appropriate tools for each procedure Good organizational and time management skills Basic computer skills Job Responsibilities Comply with all quality system requirements and specifications Comply with all safety system requirements and wear proper PPE and uniforms Perform tasks in a safe, responsible, and efficient manner Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow oral instructions to perform necessary processes Conduct machine/equipment inspections for proper operation and mechanical integrity Ability to produce test sample plate for job specifications as required Maintain all assigned machine(s)/equipment according to procedures Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine operations Identify and locate required materials and parts for assigned job Maintain and document proper material tracking throughout project such as deficiency logs and powder tracking Maintain correct time keeping throughout project by tracking in project management software Setup and safely operate overhead crane Ability to develop leadership skills to lead groups within a project Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Properly setup and safely operate a variety of assigned equipment such as hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, vacuum, power coat machine and respirator according to all procedures Examine and feel surface of workpiece for defects Ability to tape and/or mask product according to specifications and instructions Ability to hang products on rack system according to procedures Ability to wash and prepare the surface area of product according to washing procedures Operate powder coating machine according to project specifications Prepare overall product aesthetics for final inspection, ensuring product outputs meet the specified requirements before product is released Assist in other areas of the facility as needed or assigned, including overtime when necessary
