About the Role As a Metal Finishing Technician, you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality castings for final production. By utilizing advanced grinding and sanding equipment, you will ensure that all components meet rigorous surface standards and dimensional specifications. Responsibilities Operate high-RPM grinding wheels and belt sanders to refine large castings and hard-faced products. Analyze blueprints and technical layouts to determine the most efficient finishing sequences. Identify and mark surface imperfections such as porosity or cracks to facilitate necessary repairs. Utilize overhead cranes to safely load and position heavy workpieces for processing. Select appropriate abrasive tools and equipment settings based on material type and desired finish. Perform precise dimensional inspections to verify that finished parts align with engineering prints. Maintain accurate production logs and documentation to support operational tracking. Uphold a clean, organized, and safe workspace to ensure optimal equipment performance. Required Skills High school diploma or equivalent. 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment. Proficiency in using hand grinders, power tools, and measuring instruments. Ability to interpret technical blueprints and work instructions. Physical capability to stand, reach, and handle heavy materials in a shop environment. Preferred Skills 2-year technical degree in a related field. Previous experience operating overhead cranes. Demonstrated ability to cross-train on diverse machinery and equipment. Strong commitment to safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
