Mid-level Performing regular vehicle safety checks Industrial equipment troubleshooting Construction plans Concrete grinding Clean workspace maintenance Preventive machine maintenance Roadway construction projects OSHA 10-Hour Construction Equipment adjustment (production tasks) Full Job Description We are seeking a Grinding & Grooving Operator to operate specialized pavement grinding and grooving equipment on roadway and airport construction projects. This position requires extensive travel throughout the United States , including extended periods away from home while supporting active project operations. Candidates must be willing and able to travel wherever projects are located and work flexible schedules to meet production demands. Key Responsibilities Operate concrete grinding and grooving equipment safely and efficiently. Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections. Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to maintain specifications. Assist with machine setup, calibration, and daily maintenance. Read and interpret project plans, grade information, and job specifications. Maintain proper grinding depth, groove spacing, and surface texture requirements. Work closely with foremen, superintendents, and other crew members to achieve production goals. Identify and report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns. Assist with loading, unloading, mobilization, and demobilization of equipment. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all ESS safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience operating grinding, grooving, milling, paving, or other heavy construction equipment preferred. Experience with Diamond Grinding, Longitudinal Grooving, or other PCC pavement rehabilitation operations. CDL Class A or ability to obtain one. Knowledge of roadway and airport paving specifications. OSHA 10 certification. Knowledge of concrete pavement construction and finishing practices preferred. Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Ability to read grades, measurements, and project plans. Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship. Reliable attendance and ability to work in a team environment. Willingness to travel to project locations as needed. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet project schedules.
