Benefits/Incentive Information Step into the Toolroom Picture your day keeping high-performance injection molds at their best. You'll move from bench to press, from the surface grinder to the lathe, making fast, precise calls that keep production humming and downtime to a minimum. Your craftsmanship safeguards the quality behind iconic eyewear brands. What you'll do Protect tooling quality via preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and visual checks. Interpret tooling drawings precisely and carry out instructions with care. Disassemble and reassemble molds safely and efficiently. Clean molds; pitch in with Maintenance Technicians when needed. Plan your work against a schedule and consistently hit deadlines. Keep your work area orderly and audit-ready. Use precision metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore mics, etc.). Help monitor part/component levels to maintain reasonable inventory. Drive down machine downtime through rapid troubleshooting. Care for all tools and equipment, including daily cleaning of toolroom machinery. Log activities and history in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Operate with minimal supervision when direction is clear. Collaborate with Process Engineers to diagnose tooling issues and implement improvements. Work on the production floor with tools in press to correct issues and minimize stoppages. Grind to exacting tolerances on a surface grinder: hold ±0.0002 on critical features. Run a Bridgeport/lathe and maintain ±0.001 tolerances. Apply knowledge of hot-runner/manifold systems (e.g., Mold-Masters, Synventive). Polish, bench, fit new details, and spot in as required. Troubleshoot and repair tooling issues end to end. Perform other duties as assigned. What you bring High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of hands-on toolroom experience in plastic injection mold maintenance or repair. Team-first mindset; share knowledge and ideas readily. Understanding of mold and die components and their characteristics. Fluency reading tooling drawings. Clear written and verbal communication. Basic computer literacy. Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies. Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously. Initiative and proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to work more than 8 hours/day plus weekends and holidays as needed. Preferred Toolmaking certificate in die cast or plastic injection molding. 5-8 years of toolroom, plastic injection mold repair/maintenance experience. 3-5 years using hand-operated toolroom equipment; SAP or other CMMS experience; prototype toolmaking. Injection molding process experience. Toolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification. Trade school or college credentials. Own (or can obtain) essential hand tools for the role.
